Kadhi pakora is often made at our home, but I just could not manage myself to take step by step photos and thats why it took me so long to share this delicious Punjabi kadhi recipe. Ingredients of Kadhi Pakoda and Rice

  2. You need 1 cup of Besan.
  3. You need 1 cup of Chopped onions.
  4. It's 1 cup of Chopped Potatoes.

At home we call it kadhi chawal, because the kadhi is had with plain rice or jeera rice. you can also have kadhi with roti but I always prefer to have kadhi with rice. Main ingredients of kadhi chawal are gram flour (besan) and yogurt/curd (dahi). So you will find the sour taste and thick gravy due to besan. A lot of spices are used in kadhi what brings good mouth-watering aroma.

Kadhi Pakoda and Rice instructions

  1. For pakoda - in a bowl add chopped onions, chopped potatoes, chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves, Salt, red chilli powder and Besan. Now make a batter and deep fry Pakodas. Keep Pakodas ready on Tissue paper.
  2. In a big patila combine together buttermilk, Besan,Salt and red chilli powder. Now switch on the flame and start boiling this mixture on high flame. Once the mixture starts boiling minimize the flame and add a ladle in your kadhi add crushed ginger and chopped green chillies and leave it for 15 mins on slow flame.
  3. After 15-20 mins add Pakodas and let Kadhi cook for another 15-20 mins. Adjust consistency if required with water.
  4. Prepare Tadka for Kadhi - heat oil crackle Mustard seeds, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, dried red chillies, and crushed garlic cloves, add a pinch of red chilli powder. Pour this temporing over Kadhi..
  5. Garnish your kadhi with coriander leaves and a pinch of kasuri methi..
  6. Serve Hot and Tangy Kadhi Pakoda with steamed rice / jeera rice or Pulav..
